A wave of intrigue and disbelief has followed a viral claim that an Ebonyi-born businessman, Chief Peter Chibuike Orogwu—widely referred to as “Babyoku”—has allegedly spent over ₦150 million on a customized casket to lay his father to rest.
According to circulating reports, the entrepreneur, said to be from Amudo in Ezza South LGA of Ebonyi State, is the Chairman and CEO of Chuby-Zion Nigeria Ltd. He has also been linked to the production of alcoholic beverages such as Baby Oku Bitters and Dorobucci Bitters, brands that have gained some level of local recognition.
The centerpiece of the story is the extravagant coffin, reportedly specially designed to reflect wealth, status, and a grand final tribute. The alleged price tag has sparked widespread reactions, with many questioning the scale of spending and others viewing it as a cultural expression of honoring the dead.
