A student of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has emerged as the national winner of the Red Bull Basement Nigeria competition.
Oniyinde Jesutofunmi, a 300-level Mechatronics student, secured first place among over 3,000 participants with an innovative IoT-based solution designed to monitor livestock health.
The innovation uses sound sensors to detect illness in animals and send real-time alerts to owners, offering practical solutions for agricultural efficiency.
He is set to represent Nigeria at the global finale in the United States from June 1–3, 2026.
The university leadership has described the achievement as a major milestone, further positioning LASUSTECH as a hub for innovation and excellence.
