A political storm has exploded within Nigeria’s opposition ranks as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) moves to derecognize key figures in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), triggering outrage, mockery, and deepening uncertainty ahead of future elections.
At the center of the chaos are David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola, whose names were abruptly wiped from INEC’s official records as national chairman and secretary—following a controversial interpretation of a Court of Appeal ruling tied to the party’s internal leadership crisis.
But while ADC struggles to steady itself, a fierce reaction has come from Femi Fani-Kayode of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), who wasted no time unleashing a scathing attack.
In a blistering post, Fani-Kayode ridiculed the embattled opposition, declaring them politically stranded and utterly rejected.
“They’ve been rejected by the courts, rejected by INEC, rejected by their founders, and rejected by Nigerians,” he fired.
With biting sarcasm, he questioned what platform the ADC now even stands on, suggesting their hopes for the 2027 elections are effectively dead on arrival.
“2027 is already lost to them,” he declared, urging the party to retreat, regroup, and perhaps try again in 2031.
