It was a moment of mixed emotions at the State Secretariat in Ikeja as management and staff of the Lagos State Government, State Treasury Office (STO), gathered to celebrate and bid farewell to the Accountant-General of Lagos State, Abiodun Shefiu Muritala, who bowed out of active service in grand style.
The atmosphere was filled with joy, gratitude, and heartfelt tributes as colleagues expressed appreciation to Almighty God for a meritorious and impactful career in public service. At about 1:40 p.m., an emotional crowd escorted his vehicle out of the State Secretariat amidst cheers, praises, and glowing encomiums.
The illustrious son of Epe joined the Lagos State Civil Service (Local Government) in 1995, beginning a distinguished journey marked by dedication, professionalism, and excellence.
Dr. Muritala served as the immediate past Accountant-General of Lagos State and Permanent Secretary, State Treasury Office (STO). He was sworn into office in November 2019 by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Under his leadership, Lagos State strengthened its financial management architecture through improved training for accountants, integration of digital financial tools, and modernization of accounting systems — all aimed at promoting transparency, accountability, and efficient public financial management.
From the entire crew and management of EPE LAWA we extend our heartfelt congratulations to the OMO EPE PATAKI for a remarkable career and outstanding service to Lagos State.
We celebrate your legacy. 🎉.
