Thursday night February 12, as the National Youth Wing of the ADC, we stood with Malam Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai after what Nigerians witnessed at the Abuja airport. A citizen who publicly committed to honour an EFCC invitation was met with force, not process. His passport was taken without a warrant shown to him. That is not procedure. That is intimidation.
Section 35 of the Constitution guarantees the right to personal liberty. Section 36 guarantees fair hearing. These are not decorations in a book. They bind every agency of government. No institution has the power to act outside the law simply because it wears a badge.
We see a pattern. When opposition voices speak, state power suddenly moves at midnight speed. When citizens demand answers on insecurity and hardship, silence. You cannot turn the DSS and EFCC into political tools while claiming to defend democracy. Nigeria is not a one-party estate.
Let this be clear. The youth of the ADC will not be bullied into silence. Return his passport. Follow due process. Respect the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We will challenge every abuse through lawful means, and we will not stand aside while state power is used to settle political scores.
