The recent coming together of Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi under the ADC banner sends a clear message to Nigerians, 2027 is not about personalities, it is about the future of the country.
For years, the Atikulates and the Obidients have stood on different sides of the political divide, driven by shared frustrations but separated by labels. Yet, the dreams that animate both movements are strikingly similar: a competent economy, honest leadership, inclusive growth, and a Nigeria that finally works for all. If the leaders can extend a hand of friendship, surely their supporters can do the same.
The handshake on the ADC logo should remind us that unity is not surrender. It is strategy. It does not erase convictions; it aligns them. It does not weaken ideals; it strengthens their chance of becoming reality. The incumbent administration thrives on a divided opposition. History has taught us that fragmentation hands victory to those who benefit from the status quo. Unity, on the other hand, changes the math.
This coalition is an invitation, to Atikulates and Obidients alike, to rise above old quarrels and social media skirmishes, to replace suspicion with solidarity. Debate is healthy, but division is costly. Nigeriaโs challenges are too deep, and the stakes too high, for parallel struggles that never meet.
Let us mirror the handshake we see: firm, respectful, forward-looking. Let us organize together, speak together, and vote together. The task before us is bigger than any one leader or movement. It is about ending an era that has held back our progress and opening a new chapter defined by competence, compassion, and credibility.
One hand cannot clap. Two hands, joined in purpose, can build a nation. 2027 begins with that handshake, between leaders, and between us.
