Rivers People in the Diaspora (RSPD) take strong exception to the purported 48-hour ultimatum issued by Martins Amaewhule and his associates. This move is devoid of any legitimate will of Rivers people or legality of any law and is of no consequence to the good people of Rivers State. It is imperative to note that Amaewhule and his cohorts, having defected to the APC, expressed in an affidavit deposed before the court of Nigeria have automatically forfeited their seats in accordance with the Constitution.
Speaker Edison Ehie’s declaration of their seats vacant is in line with proper procedure and law. The Governor must never respect or countenance this unbridled stupidity. If Amaewhule and his associates think otherwise, we invite them to seek redress in court, where the judiciary can provide them with clarity on the matter. As far as we are concerned, the declaration of seat vacancy is final, and no further action is required from Government and People of Rivers State
Rivers People in Diaspora (RSPD) advise all our people at home or across the globe never to be taken by the schemes these degenerates to twist the decision of the Supreme Court, which remains an a mere academic reinstatement, based on facts at the Time the appeal was entered, before they defected
The Supreme Court in its wisdom decided not to take effective judicial notice of official position of Rt Hon Edison Ehie declaring 27 seat vacant according to law, or an Affidavit before the Nigerian Court and ongoing court proceedings on defection into reckoning but left the scene with more confusion and potential for anarchy. But Rivers people are too mature and politically sophisticated to fall for any provocation into anarchy. We are level headed and peaceful people oriented towards the greater and common good and never to be distracted and drawn into kids plays
We should all stand firm without falling for the provocation to be drawn into violence. The real test for us self restrain from violence, for which we are fully capable of. We are sure Gov SIM won’t respect these defectors, we advise him never to. The Supreme Court will eventually recognize that we have a responsibility to defend our laws and constitution. In this instance the unforced (voluntary) defection of 27 lawmakers who pretending to being our representatives
Their attempts to exert influence on the state are futile, and we will not stand idly by while they try to undermine the democratic process. Any efforts to enforce this illegitimate ultimatum or disrupt the peace and stability of Rivers State will be met with firm resistance.
The people of Rivers State are vigilant, and we will not allow a group of political opportunists to hijack the democratic process. We urge Amaewhule and his associates to respect the Constitution and the will of the people.
Furthermore, we assert that no budget should be presented to Amaewhule’s so-called assembly. Any attempts to do so will be thwarted with all necessary force. The government of Rivers State and People’s interest organization on ground should approach both the FHC and SHC respectively to challenge this stupidity.
The people of Rivers State will not permit their mandate to be disregarded by political mercenaries acting on behalf of their benefactor, Nyesom Wike.
Let it be clear: Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara is the duly elected leader of Rivers State, and no one will remove him from office. Any attempts to do so will be met with unwavering resistance. The people of Rivers State will defend their mandate with all their might. This is not a request; it is a warning. We urge Amaewhule, Wike, and their associates to take heed.
