Former President chief Olusegun Obasanjo GCFR will today (Wednesday) unveil two books he newly authored as part of events marking his 88th birthday.
The books, titled “Lest We Forget: Slavery, Slave Trade, Emancipation, and Reparation” and “Nigeria: Past and the Future,” will be unveiled in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.
According to a statement by Obasanjo’s Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, the event will also feature a public lecture on slavery and colonisation.

The lecture, titled “Echoes of the Past, Visions of the Future: Reflections on Slavery and Colonisation, and Nigeria’s Journey Towards a Promising Future,” will be delivered by Prof. Eghosa Osaghae, the Director General of the Nigerian Institute for International Affairs.
The celebration will also include children’s performances, drama, dances, songs, and goodwill messages, with His Majesty, King Mswati III, Ngwenyama of Eswatini, in attendance.
