Recent comments by former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai have painted a misleading picture of failure and disarray within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. However, these claims do not reflect the undeniable progress made within the party and across various sectors of the present administration.
From economic reforms to security improvements, Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is already yielding visible and tangible results. The administration’s commitment to national development is evident from the ongoing reforms implemented to stabilise the economy.
The Tinubu-led administration has implemented bold policies, including removing fuel subsidies and unifying the foreign exchange market, to stabilise Nigeria’s economy and attract foreign investment. His focus on infrastructure development, tax reforms, and financial inclusion has spurred growth and strengthened key sectors. Additionally, the government’s emphasis on education, security, and healthcare reforms reflects a commitment to sustainable national development. These measures, though challenging, have begun yielding gains in economic stability, investor confidence, and governance transparency.
El-Rufai’s assertion that “illiterates and semi-illiterates” are running the government is not only misleading but also insulting to the highly accomplished professionals currently leading key sectors. President Tinubu has appointed some of Nigeria’s brightest minds to drive his administration’s vision across security, the economy, energy, and finance. These appointments were made based on merit, ensuring that critical reforms are in the hands of proven experts.
This inclusive approach extends to technocrats, professionals, and even opposition members who have been entrusted with key government positions. Tinubu is working to build a government of national competence, demonstrating that anyone capable of contributing to Nigeria’s development has a role under his leadership.

The unfounded claim that President Tinubu is running a one-person government is hogwash. Nothing could be further from the truth. Mr President has not sidelined party and Nigerian stakeholders; instead, he has given them meaningful roles in shaping the country’s direction.
While opposition voices may attempt to create distractions, Nigerians must focus on the larger picture of national progress.
