Tension continues to mount in the wake of the death of beloved Nollywood comic legend John Okafor, as his widow, Stella Maris Okafor, has pushed back strongly against explosive allegations surrounding the handling of his estate and recent public donations.
In a revealing interview with content creator King Mitchy, Stella Maris addressed accusations that she independently mismanaged or sold properties belonging to the late actor while simultaneously appealing for financial support from the public—an appeal that reportedly raised over ₦7 million within 48 hours.
The controversy intensified after claims emerged from one of Mr Ibu’s sons, alleging that she had been involved in questionable property transactions and was living in accommodation deemed too costly for her current financial situation.
But Stella Maris did not hold back in her response. She insisted she was not solely responsible for decisions concerning her late husband’s assets, alleging that certain family members—including some of Mr Ibu’s sons—were also involved in the sale of properties. She further claimed that a parcel of land in Enugu was sold for approximately ₦17 million, which she said was used to cover burial expenses.
