US REPORT:
Iran has reportedly agreed in principle to give up its stockpile of highly enriched uranium as part of a possible agreement with the United States, according to the New York Times.
The report says the deal does not yet specify how Tehran would surrender or transfer the enriched uranium, with discussions on that issue postponed to a later stage.
U.S. officials reportedly pressured Iran to accept the condition during the first phase of negotiations, warning that failure to do so could risk a return to military confrontation.
Another report claims the wider agreement could also include a halt to fighting in Lebanon and the release of approximately $25 billion in frozen Iranian assets.
No official final agreement has been announced yet.
