The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, on Tuesday, 9th December 2025, presented the ₦15,172,250,000 2026 Appropriation Bill to the 10th Legislative Council. The landmark presentation took place at the Legislative Chamber of the Council Secretariat, Igando-Oloja.
The budget, christened “Budget of Renewed and Resilient Development” underscores the administration’s unwavering commitment to fostering economic resilience, infrastructure renewal, and inclusive growth amidst evolving global and local challenges with its Security, Health, Infrastructure, Education, Environment, Local Economy, Digital governance and Civil Participation (S.H.I.E.E.L.D) Agenda.
With a total estimated figure of ₦15,172,250,000:00, the budget allocates strategic resources to key sectors including Security and General Public Service at ₦5,530,250,000 (36.45%), Health Sector, ₦770,000,000 (5.08%), Infrastructure at ₦3,767,500,000 (24.83%), Education Sector, ₦1,314,500,000 (8.66%), Environment Sector, ₦730,000,000 (4.81%) Local Economy, ₦460,000,000 (3.03%) and Digital Governance & Civic Participation at₦2,600,000,000 (17.14%).
In his presentation, Hon Olowa stated that Ibeju-Lekki has continued to transform at a remarkable pace.
In his words, “Once a quiet coastal region, our corridor has now become one of the fastest growing areas in Lagos State. New families are settling in, new businesses are emerging, and new communities are taking shape. With this growth comes increased responsibility”.
On the theme of the Budget, Hon. Olowa said, “We chose this theme because it reflects our reality and ambition. Renewal reflects our readiness to adapt to the rapidly evolving needs of our communities. Resilience represents our commitment to building systems strong enough to support the future already unfolding across our local government”.
In his remarks, the Council Leader Hon. Mojeed Olayinka, affirmed that the Local Government Area under Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has achieved monumental success since its inception, part of which includes the construction of the administrative and legislative buildings, remodeling of primary schools, renovation of primary health care centres, amongst others, and called on his colleagues to give a standing ovation to the Council boss.
Hon. Olayinka commended the Executive Arm for the timely and comprehensive presentation, assuring robust legislative scrutiny and expeditious passage. “This budget aligns seamlessly with our collective aspirations for Ibeju-Lekki. We stand ready to collaborate for its swift implementation ahead of the 2026 fiscal year,” he remarked.
This presentation marks a continuation of Hon. Olowa’s transformative leadership since his inauguration in 2021, building on previous budgets. Stakeholders, including traditional rulers, community leaders, and civil society representatives, have lauded the administration’s focus on people-centred governance.
The Legislative Council is expected to commence deliberations immediately, with passage anticipated before the end of the year to ensure seamless implementation from next year while the budget session was chaired by the Leader of the Legislative Council, Hon. Mojeed Olayinka, with all council members in attendance, including the Deputy Leader, Hon. Musbau Shuaib, Majority Leader, Hon. Zainab Eletu and other distinguished lawmakers.
